who are you
i’m vivian, a progressive yimby. progressive as in “acab, defund the police, harm reduction drug policies” and yimby as in “yes we do need market rate housing, yes the permitting office is too slow, and yes, if your yimby programs don’t include increased funding for social housing you’re a fake housing enjoyer”
these are my voting guides
what do you think about various issues
see above
generally for higher taxes, especially on corporations. any increase in social goods will likely require higher taxes on not just the rich, but also upper-middle class people like myself. we need to accept that.
will not compromise on trans rights, not just because it’s not a losing issue but because compromising on the culture war just cedes it. if you’re worried about how it looks to support your base, pivot it to healthcare and shared struggle, it sells better.
i do not comment on education policy or races. i’m systemically uninvested and lack accurate perspective for a lot of reasons:
- i don’t have kids in the school system, so i don’t have a real stake in it
- i didn’t grow up in the school system i currently live in, so i don’t have lived experience
- education policy is insanely complicated and i have no foundational understanding of what actually creates good outcomes for kids
- school system failures are hyperlocal; knowledge of what’s failing in one city doesn’t imply knowledge of what’s failing elsewhere
why should i trust you
you really shouldn’t, most of the reason i put these together is because i need to organize my own thoughts in preparation for my own voting anyways and people apparently find it helpful
i’m gonna be doing like 20+ hours of research every election cycle anyways i might as well publish it
when are your guides out
i try to put them out by the sunday a week before the election at the latest, so that’d give you… 9 days to copy my votes? give or take, sometimes elections are on weird days right
